Description: This vintage military artifact is an authentic British colonial King's African Rifles (KAR) uniform shoulder title badge. The die-cut, open-frame design features the prominent uppercase block letters "KAR" aligned horizontally and connected by a thick lower base rail displaying subtle geometric stop-nubs. The insignia is struck from solid brass or gilding metal alloy, boasting a beautiful, deep-toned golden-brown aged patina across its front surfaces. The completely unmarked reverse face is fitted with its original dual fixing loops (lugs), which currently hold a vintage brass split-cotter pin woven through them to anchor the title firmly to a soldier's uniform fabric.
Circa: 1902-1963
Notes:
The King's African Rifles was a highly celebrated multi-battalion regiment raised from various British East African possessions, including Kenya, Uganda, Somaliland, and Nyasaland. The regiment fought with immense distinction across both World Wars, launching vital campaigns against German forces in East Africa during World War I, and later repelling Italian troops in Abyssinia and battling Japanese forces throughout the dense jungles of Burma during World War II. Notable historical figures served within its ranks, including the famous African nationalist leader - King's African Rifles Association veterans who went on to shape post-colonial independent nations.
