Description: This powerful World War II home-front postage stamp showcases a highly stylized, monochrome violet illustration designed to rally public resolve. The dynamic central design features the American bald eagle facing our left, its grandly extended wings pointing skyward to form a bold "V" shape. A distinct horizontal banner draped across the raptor's chest carries the commanding call to action "WIN THE WAR" in crisp block lettering. Immediately below, the bird clutches a bundle of traditional arrows crossed behind a central vertical column, symbolizing military strength and national unity. Framing the graphic icon, an arc of thirteen five-pointed stars honors the founding American colonies. A bold "3¢" denomination flanks the base of the design on both sides, directly above a solid lower text block reading "UNITED STATES POSTAGE". This used example retains multiple parallel black lines from a vintage machine-applied postmark stretching horizontally across the central graphic.

Notes:
Issued on 4 July 1942, the violet three-cent “Win the War” stamp supported the United States’ war effort. The eagle’s raised wings form a “V” for victory, surrounded by thirteen stars. The design combines a national symbol with a direct wartime slogan.
Although often grouped with commemorative issues, it was intended as a patriotic regular postage issue, replacing the three-cent National Defense stamp of 1940. Three cents paid the standard domestic letter rate for one ounce at the time, giving the design a practical place in everyday correspondence.
