Statue of Liberty Definitive

Description: This classic mid-century definitive postage stamp from the United States displays a striking, two-color composition centered on Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi’s copper masterpiece. The central vignette captures a detailed, blue line-engraved bust of Lady Liberty, showing her crowned head looking slightly right while her elevated right arm proudly hoists her beacon torch into a radiant, fine-line halo. Arching cleanly directly over her spiked crown is the uppercase text "IN GOD WE TRUST". The entire portrait zone is framed against a solid, vibrant carmine-red background field. The upper border displays the text "U.S. POSTAGE" alongside a bold "11¢" denomination indicator, while the base frame is centered by the uppercase word "LIBERTY". This used specimen features seven horizontal black machine lines from a wavy-line cancellation sweeping cleanly across the front.

Circa: This 11¢ carmine and blue regular issue (officially cataloged as Scott #1044A) made its nationwide debut on June 15, 1961, and stayed in active circulation through the mid-1960s.
