Description: This foundational piece of United States postal history features Houdon's famous bust profile of George Washington encircled by an oval border decorated with laurel leaves. The top of the frame bears the inscription "U.S. POSTAGE," while the lower corners proudly display the numerical denomination flanking the words "TWO CENTS". Heavy, horizontal machine-cancel bar lines stretch entirely across the face of the paper, serving as clear evidence of its functional journey through the early 20th-century American mailing system.
