US Soldier’s Medal

Under Review

Material: Bronze
Size: 35 mm
Description: This authentic United States military award is the Soldier’s Medal, an elite decoration conferred upon service members for heroic acts performed outside of active enemy conflict. Struck in solid bronze, the award body is instantly recognizable by its distinct octagonal geometric design measuring precisely 35mm in width. The obverse face displays a detailed high-relief engraving of a North American bald eagle with its expansive wings swept upright, its talons firmly grasping an ancient Roman fasces weapon to denote state authority and national strength. Flanking the central eagle silhouette are two balanced groupings of five-pointed stars along the lateral margins; six on the left and seven on the right, representing the original thirteen American colonies. The decoration suspends from a crisp silk grosgrain ribbon dominated by two broad outer bands of ultramarine blue, which enclose a central white field split by seven narrow, vibrant crimson vertical pinstripes.
Reverse: Unmarked, with space for recipient engraving
Circa: Mid-20th century (pattern introduced 1926; example likely later manufacture)
Notes:
The Soldier’s Medal is awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for acts of heroism not involving direct conflict with an enemy. This example is unengraved, indicating it was not officially issued to a recipient and was likely acquired as surplus or through the collector market. Unnamed examples are common and carry limited value compared to named awards with traceable service histories.
