World War II American Campaign Medal

Under Review

Material: Bronze
Size: 32mm
Description: Depicts a Navy cruiser, a B-24 Liberator bomber, and a sinking enemy submarine with the inscription AMERICAN CAMPAIGN above — symbolizing the defense of the Western Hemisphere during WWII.
Reverse: Features a bald eagle perched on a rock, symbolizing strength and freedom, with the dates 1941–1945 and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Circa: 1945–1947
Notes:
Though established early in the war via Executive Order 9265, this honor was initially distributed exclusively as a service ribbon. The actual full-sized bronze medal was not minted or issued to veterans until late 1947, with General of the Army George C. Marshall retroactively receiving the very first struck specimen. While the obverse is highly localized to this specific theater, the reverse was designed by Adolph A. Weinman and shares an identical American bald eagle motif with the Asiatic-Pacific and European-African-Middle Eastern campaign medals.
