Under Review

Material: Copper-Nickel Clad (outer layers 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper core)
Diameter: 38.1 mm
Weight: 22.68 g
Mint / Mintmark: Denver (“D”)
Obverse: This numismatic item is an authentic United States one-dollar coin featuring the left-facing profile of President Dwight D. Eisenhower on the obverse. Designed by United States Mint Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro, the large-format planchet prominently displays the word "LIBERTY" wrapping around the top curved rim. The national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is cleanly struck in two lines directly underneath Eisenhower's chin, while the specific mintage year of 1972 is centered along the bottom edge. Just below the truncation of the neck profile, a small "D" mint mark signifies that this particular piece was struck at the Denver Mint facility.
Reverse: Depicts an eagle landing on the Moon, clutching an olive branch — design adapted from the Apollo 11 mission insignia — with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and ONE DOLLAR. Designer: Frank Gasparro.
Circa: 1972
Condition: Very Fine – moderate even wear, rim and lettering sharp, minor surface toning.
Notes:

The Eisenhower dollar was the very first large-sized silver-colored dollar coin minted by the United States since the peace dollar series ended in 1935. For the 1972 Denver minting run, the coin was composed entirely of a copper-nickel clad composition over a solid copper core, which matches the base metal standard used for modern dimes and quarters. Serious numismatists often study the 1972 issue closely because the Philadelphia mint variants from this exact year are famous for having three highly distinct reverse die varieties involving subtle changes to the earth's geographical details. While millions of these coins were circulated and remain affordable today in average condition, examples that exhibit strong, clean strikes on the high points of Eisenhower’s hair and jawline command a significant price premium among collectors.
