US 1974 Kennedy Half Dollar

Under Review

Material: Copper-Nickel Clad (outer layers 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper core)
Diameter: 30.6 mm
Weight: 11.34 g
Mint / Mintmark: Denver (“D”)
Obverse: Portrait of President John F. Kennedy facing left, with inscriptions LIBERTY above, IN GOD WE TRUST below, and date 1974. Designer: Gilroy Roberts.
Reverse: Presidential Seal – eagle with outstretched wings clutching olive branch and arrows, surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR. Designer: Frank Gasparro.
Circa: Modern Circulation Issue (1971–present, Clad Era)
Condition: Very Fine – mild wear, high-point flattening on hair and eagle wings, clear legends and rim beading.
Notes: Although over 200 million examples were struck, the Kennedy half dollar saw little circulation during the 1970s. Public hoarding of earlier silver issues and the popularity of the Kennedy design contributed to the denomination's decline in everyday use, making the half dollar an increasingly uncommon sight in American commerce.
