US Tactical Air Command Uniform Patch

Under Review

Material: Cloth

Size: 90mm w x 100mm h

Description: The item is an authentic, full-color embroidered uniform shoulder sleeve insignia designed for the United States Air Force Tactical Air Command (TAC). Measuring approximately 90mm wide by 100mm high, the patch is stitched onto a sturdy canvas backing with a distinct, densely embroidered blue border. The heraldic shield design is divided horizontally by a wavy, multi-pointed white line, partitioning a vibrant blue sky section from a solid red base field. Emerging from the center is a highly detailed, white unsheathed sword pointing downward with a striking red hilt, which is dramatically flanked by two outstretched golden yellow wings. An embroidered scroll is integrated along the bottom curve of the shield, spelling out "TACTICAL AIR COMMAND" in bold, capitalized yellow lettering.

Circa: 1950-1992

Notes:

Tactical Air Command was originally established in 1946 to command, organize, and train the combat-ready tactical air forces of the United States. The rich symbolism of the insignia was highly intentional, with the blue and red backgrounds representing the coordination between air forces and ground armies during active global operations. The central unsheathed sword symbolizes defensive readiness and striking power, while the gold wings represent the swift speed and aerial mastery of the command's jet fighter wings. For nearly five decades, this patch was proudly worn by legendary aviators flying iconic aircraft like the F-4 Phantom II and the F-15 Eagle, until TAC was formally inactivated in 1992 following a massive post-Cold War restructuring that merged its forces into the modern Air Combat Command.
