US 2nd Infantry Division Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Under Review

Material: Cloth

Size: 85mm w x 120mm h

Description: This embroidered textile patch is an authentic military shoulder sleeve insignia belonging to the 2nd Infantry Division of the United States Army, famously nicknamed "Indianhead." The design features a prominent black shield background that houses a large, centrally positioned five-pointed white star. Stitched into the center of the star is the detailed profile of a Native American warrior facing left, complete with a red face profile and a stylized blue and white feathered war bonnet.

Circa: 1940-1950s

Notes:

The "Indianhead" patch is one of the most recognizable and storied insignias in American military history, tracing its conceptual roots back to World War I truck camouflage before being officially adopted as a uniform patch. This specific iteration features the fully embroidered construction typical of the World War II and Korean War eras, making it highly collectible compared to modern synthetic variants. Because the 2nd Infantry Division fought with immense distinction from Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge, and later became the first unit to reach Korea from the United States, these genuine service patches are anchor pieces for twentieth-century militaria displays.
