UK Pre-Decimal National Wilding Stamp

Under Review

Description: This definitive stamp features the classic Dorothy Wilding photographic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing left, set within a formal oval frame. The design is printed in a distinctive reddish-purple (often cataloged as deep claret) color. Unlike the lower values in the series which use numerical symbols, this stamp displays the denomination in full text as SIX PENCE along the bottom curve of the oval. The words POSTAGE and REVENUE curve along the upper left and right sides. The four corners are intricately decorated with the national floral emblems: the Tudor rose (top left), the thistle (top right), the daffodil (bottom left), and the shamrock (bottom right). This specific used copy bears a heavy black circular cancellation, with partial letters visible on the left side.
