UK Pre-Decimal National Wilding Stamp

Under Review

Description: This definitive stamp showcases the classic photographic portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II facing slightly left, captured by Dorothy Wilding and framed within a sharp oval wreath of laurel leaves. The royal cypher is split across the upper portion of the design, displaying a large letter E in the top-left corner and a balancing letter R in the top-right corner. A small cluster of flowers is nestled into the lower-left corner just above the centered bottom inscription text reading POSTAGE REVENUE. The lower-right corner anchors the composition with the pre-decimal denomination of 4d enclosed inside a bold, solid circle. The entire stamp is printed in a light ultramarine blue ink, and this used copy shows a series of faint, parallel horizontal wavy-line machine postal cancellations running cleanly across the face.
