UK Pre-Decimal National Wilding Stamp

Under Review

Description: This definitive stamp features the famous Dorothy Wilding photographic portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II facing slightly left, framed beautifully within an oval wreath of laurel leaves. The royal cypher is cleanly split across the upper portion of the design, displaying a large letter E in the top-left corner and a matching letter R in the top-right corner. A delicate sprig of Tudor roses is tucked into the lower-left corner just above the centered bottom text inscription that reads POSTAGE REVENUE. The lower-right corner anchors the frame with the pre-decimal denomination of 3d enclosed inside a bold, solid circle. The entire stamp is printed in a rich, deep lilac ink, and this used copy shows a series of crisp, parallel horizontal wavy-line machine postal cancellations crossing neatly over the Queen's profile.
