UK Millennium Series Inventors Tale Photography

Under Review

Description: This modern commemorative postage stamp was officially issued by Great Britain's Royal Mail on January 12, 1999, as a key component of the highly anticipated Millennium Series collection. Categorized within the "Inventors' Tale" set, the 43-pence denomination pays direct artistic tribute to William Henry Fox Talbot and the historical birth of photography. The visual design, captured by the photography duo Zafer and Barbara Baran, showcases an abstract, high-contrast silhouette of early photogenic leaf experiments set against a striking gradient background of deep purple and incandescent red tones. Positioned in the upper left corner is the classic silver-foil embossed silhouette portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the lower right margin holds the sharp typography indicating the 43p face value.

Condition: MNH

Notes:

Issued as part of the Millennium Inventors' Tale series, this stamp treats photography as both scientific process and creative medium. Its modern visual language makes it a good example of the Millennium set's more experimental design direction.
