Description: This stamp features the left-facing portrait profile of King George VI, based on the foundational gravure design elements sculpted by Edmund Dulac with frames refined by Eric Gill. The monarch's profile is surmounted by the Imperial Crown centered at the top, flanked by a prominent Tudor rose in the upper left corner and a thistle in the upper right. The sides are defined by vertical panels reading POSTAGE on the left and REVENUE on the right, which terminate near the bottom emblems of the Welsh daffodil and Irish shamrock. The pre-decimal denomination of 3d is clearly encircled at the bottom center of the rich violet background field. This particular used copy displays a faint, light ink machine cancellation line cutting across the top left corner near the rose emblem.
