Great Britain King George V

Treasure detail

Great Britain King George V

Under Review

Description: This definitive stamp features the left-facing profile portrait of King George V housed within a central oval frame. The crown sits directly atop the upper edge of the oval, dividing the text inscriptions that read POSTAGE on the left and REVENUE on the right. A decorative ribbon frames the lower left side with laurel leaves, while oak leaves accent the lower right side to denote royal strength and longevity. The bottom banner clearly displays the textual denomination reading ONE PENNY, which is anchored on both outer sides by square boxes featuring the numeral 1. The entire piece is printed in a striking bright scarlet red ink, and this used specimen bears a heavy, dark circular date stamp postal cancellation boldly struck across the right side of the King's face.
