The Red-Brown Monarch

Treasure detail

The Red-Brown Monarch

Under Review

Description: This vintage British postage stamp features the left-facing profile of King George V rendered in a rich red-brown or chestnut shade. Known as part of the definitive "Block Cypher" issue, the design positions the king's finely detailed profile inside a central oval frame. The composition is ornately bordered by a grand royal crown at the top center, flanked by the fraction "1½" in the upper corners. Elegant banners reading "POSTAGE" and "REVENUE" curve downwards toward the bottom, where two stylized dolphins frame the base and a bold cartouche spells out the "THREE HALFPENCE" value.
