King Edward VII Stamp

Treasure detail

King Edward VII Stamp

Under Review

Description: This definitive issue showcases the portrait of King Edward VII enclosed within an oval frame, topped with an imperial crown. The ornate frame features extensive laurel and oak leaf decoration along the borders. Text arcs across the top sections with "POSTAGE" on the left and "& REVENUE" on the right. The bottom panel explicitly defines the monetary value as "ONE PENNY". Thick black manuscript ink defaces the center of the surface, showing an authentic handwritten fiscal or regional office cancellation applied across the monarch's face.

Circa: 1902-1910

Condition: Used example with strong color, intact perforations, and a heavy manuscript ink cancel across the portrait.

Notes:

Pen cancellations were used in situations where a normal cancelling device was unavailable or where stamps were being marked quickly on documents or receipts. Although common, they remain a recognized and collectible form of postal use.
