Royal Mail Fred the Cat

Description: This commemorative British postage stamp was released by the Royal Mail as part of a highly popular, five-stamp set celebrating domestic felines. The artistic vignette showcases a realistic watercolor illustration of a specific black-and-white house pet named "Fred" resting peacefully in a wicker armchair. In the top right corner, the denomination is clearly marked with a large "41" printed in a clean black typeface next to a monochromatic silhouette profile of Queen Elizabeth II. The clean white border frames the artwork seamlessly with standard gauge perforations running along all four sides of the rectangular format.

Circa: 1995

Condition: MNH

Notes:

The entire commemorative set was beautifully illustrated by the acclaimed Scottish painter and printmaker Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, who was famous for her delicate portrayals of flowers and her own real-life companion animals.
