The Reigning Grace

Under Review

Description: This philatelic pairing showcases two highly influential definitive stamp series from Great Britain under Queen Elizabeth II. The larger, upper stamp is a pre-decimal high-value Machin definitive rendered in a rich peat-brown shade with a face value of 2/6 (two shillings and sixpence). This iconic design features an elegant, minimalist side profile of the monarch adapted from a sculpture by artist Arnold Machin. Nestled below it is a smaller, deep lilac three-pence (3d) Wilding definitive, which highlights a softer, three-quarter portrait photographed by Dorothy Wilding. The Wilding issue incorporates intricate regional floral scrollwork representing England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland framing the corners of the portrait field.
