Condition: MNH; clipped corner
Notes:
Part of the Endangered Species series, this issue was intended to raise public awareness about declining British wildlife.
Since its feature on the 1998 stamp, the Shining Ram's-horn Snail (Segmentina nitida) population has continued its severe, long-term decline, leaving it isolated in just a few remaining strongholds in southeast England. Overall, the species has suffered an estimated 80% decline in the UK over the past century.
