The Connaught Rangers Brass Shoulder Title

Under Review

Material: Brass
Size: 47mm w × 11mm h
Description: This die-struck gilding metal shoulder title features the single word "CONNAUGHT" styled in an elegant, upward-curved arc with distinct block-serif lettering. It was designed specifically for the service dress uniforms of The Connaught Rangers, an elite Irish line infantry regiment of the British Army famously nicknamed "The Devil's Own". The reverse of this specimen is mounted with two substantial hexagonal loop lugs, which were passed through the uniform's shoulder wool and secured tightly from the inside using a heavy cotter pin.
Circa: 1914-1922
Notes:
The regiment earned their fierce nickname, "The Devil’s Own," from General Picton during the Peninsular War due to their unmatched bravery in battle paired with an equally rowdy reputation for indiscipline off the clock.
