RAF Beret Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Staybrite (Anodized Aluminum)
Dimensions: 40 mm W × 43 mm H
Description: This openwork metal insignia features the stylized, interlocking initials "RAF" set directly within a circular laurel wreath cluster. A St. Edward's Crown, detailing jeweled cross-pattee surmounts and a textured velvet cap arch, surmounts the upper central initials block. The entire badge is stamped from a lightweight, silvery-colored metal sheet that maintains a high-gloss, reflective mirror finish.
Reverse: Marked FIRMIN with original pin fitting and securing loop intact
Circa: Post-1953, Elizabeth II era
Notes:

This piece represents the modern "Staybrite" era of British military insignia, a manufacturing shift where traditional heavy brass and gilding metal were phased out in favor of anodized aluminum. Anodized aluminum badges were highly favored by the Ministry of Defence because they never tarnish, completely eliminating the need for personnel to continuously polish their uniform metalwork prior to inspection.
