Material: Bronze (95.5% copper, 3% tin, 1.5% zinc)
Diameter: 30.81 mm
Mint: Royal Mint, London
Obverse: The circular bronze piece showcases the raised profile bust of King Edward VII facing to the right with his characteristic beard, mustache, and short-cropped hairline. Encircling the royal portrait is a continuous, raised inscription reading "EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:" in capitalized block lettering. A fine, denticulated or tooth-like ornamental border rings the outer perimeter of the rim to provide structural protection against edge wear. Tucked minutely into the hollow fold of the monarch's neck truncation are the tiny, stamped initials "De S." representing the master engraver. The metallic fields display a worn, warm milk-chocolate bronze coloration along with microscopic handling scratches and subtle green tarnish spots settled inside the inner curves of the ear.
