Description: This circular military campaign decoration is the authentic British-issue version of the War Medal 1939–1945, established to honor full-time service during the Second World War. The expansive Latin inscription framing the portrait reads "GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP.", which names him King of all the Britains and Emperor of India. This face connects directly to the rigid, non-swiveling suspender bar through a robust decorative mount designed to accommodate a multi-striped campaign uniform ribbon.
Reverse: Lion standing triumphant over a double-headed dragon representing the Axis powers, with the dates 1939 – 1945 above; designed by Percy Metcalfe.
Circa: 1945–1946
