Description: This numismatic artifact is a circulating silver sixpence coin struck by the Royal Mint for domestic use within Great Britain. The obverse displays the classic bare head portrait of King George V facing to the left, which was meticulously engraved by the prominent artist Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal. Flowing around the outer edge of the portrait is a portion of the Latin imperial legend reading "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX," declaring his divine right as monarch. A prominent raised denticle pattern forms a defensive rim border around the entire circumference. The surfaces show a muted, silver-grey coloration along with a slightly granular metal texture that is highly characteristic of a heavily circulated mid-grade specimen.
Reverse: A crowned lion standing atop the royal crown, denomination SIXPENCE below, date divided by crown base (19 | 27), legend “FID DEF IND IMP.”; design by George Kruger Gray.
Circa: 1927 (Reign of George V, 1910–1936)
Condition: Fine to Very Fine
