Obverse: This circulating pre-decimal United Kingdom one shilling piece represents the classic obverse profile struck during the mid-twentieth century. Designed by acclaimed medalist Thomas Humphrey Paget, the artwork showcases the bare-headed likeness of King George VI, featuring his tiny initials "HP" elegantly struck into the metal just beneath the neck truncation. The prominent Latin inscription reading "GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX" circles the portrait, translating to "George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains." Struck in massive quantities by the Royal Mint, this historic issue reflects the endurance of traditional British currency design during an era of global conflict.
Reverse: Crowned lion standing atop a crown; legend “FID: DEF: IND: IMP: ONE SHILLING.” Date 1941 split to either side. Design by George Kruger Gray.
