Obverse: This standard circulation 1936 United Kingdom pre-decimal one shilling coin is struck from a 50% silver alloy. The obverse displays the left-facing, uncrowned bare head portrait of King George V, originally modeled by the prominent Australian sculptor Sir Edgar Bertram MacKennal. A highly precise, crisp denticle border lines the outer rim, enclosing the formal Latin imperial legend "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX". The coin’s surface exhibits a bright, lightly circulated silver sheen with fine handling hairline scratches and subtle gray toning nestled within the low-relief fields around the King's beard and crown lines.
