Notes:

One shilling equalled twelve pre-decimal pence, with twenty shillings to the pound. Dated 1915, this coin was issued for ordinary circulation during the First World War.

The abbreviated Latin inscriptions carry the king’s titles across both sides. The obverse identifies George V as “by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains”; “FID DEF IND IMP” on the reverse means “Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India.”

Its sterling silver composition places it before the reduction of British silver coinage from 92.5% to 50% silver in 1920.
