Under Review

Material: .500 Silver (50% Ag, 50% Cu)
Diameter: 28.5 mm
Weight: 11.31 g
Actual Silver Weight (ASW): 0.1818 troy oz
Mint / Mintmark: London (no mintmark)
Obverse: This pre-decimal silver coin displays the left-facing profile portrait of King George V, beautifully rendered by the renowned sculptor Bertram MacKennal. Encircling the inner beaded border is the prominent abbreviated Latin inscription "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX," which translates to "George V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains." This particular specimen shows a sharp, high-rim strike with clear individual strands of hair in the King's beard and mustache, framed against a subtly textured field. The outer edge features a cleanly preserved reeded design, and the overall silver surface exhibits a beautiful, natural light-grey circulation patina.
Reverse: Ornate design of crowned cruciform shields representing the nations of the UK (England, Scotland, Ireland), with sceptres in angles and small central Garter circle; legend FID: DEF: IND: IMP: ONE FLORIN 1933; by George Kruger Gray.
Circa: 1933; Interwar British coinage (Silver .500 alloy period)
Condition: Very Fine (sharp beading and shield clarity, even natural tone, minor wear on high points)
Notes:

The 1933 florin is a fascinating piece for numismatists because it belongs to the same mintage year as the legendary, ultra-rare 1933 British penny, of which only a handful of examples exist. While the 1933 florin is significantly more common with over eleven million pieces struck at the Royal Mint, finding specimens with minimal high-point wear on the central monogram and scepter crowns remains a challenge for type-set collectors.
