Obverse: This artifact is an original United Kingdom one florin silver coin, equivalent to two shillings or one-tenth of a pound sterling, struck at the Royal Mint in London. The obverse face displays the uncrowned, left-facing portrait profile of King George V, beautifully designed with fine detail in his hair, heavy mustache, and ceremonial beard. Encircling the bust is the formal Latin inscription: "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX," which translates to "George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains". The rim features a crisp, beaded border designed to protect the portrait from surface wear. Struck from 50% silver alloy (.500 fineness), this coin measures approximately 28.5mm in diameter with a weight of 11.31 grams and features a traditionally reeded or milled edge.
Reverse: Shields of England, Scotland, and Ireland in cruciform arrangement, with scepters between and crown above; legend “FID: DEF: IND: IMP:” and “ONE FLORIN 1931.” Design by George Kruger Gray.
