Obverse: This substantial pre-decimal United Kingdom two-shilling pieces—famously known as a florin—represents a fascinating mid-point in the interwar coinage of King George V. Designed by the prominent Australian-born sculptor Edgar Bertram MacKennal, the obverse design showcases a detailed portrait of the King, featuring the small initials "B.M." subtly placed near the bottom edge of the neck line. The prominent imperial inscription along the perimeter reads "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX," proclaiming him to be George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains. Struck under strict legislative quotas at the Royal Mint in London, this specific issue features the post-1920 debased 50% silver composition standard.
