Material: Bronze (95.5% Copper, 3% Tin, 1.5% Zinc)
Diameter: 20 mm
Weight: 2.83 g
Mint / Mintmark: Royal Mint, London (no mintmark)
Obverse: This antique copper-alloy coin features the un-crowned, left-facing bare head portrait of King George V centered perfectly within a raised rim. Surrounding the monarch's classic side profile is the formal abbreviated Latin legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:, which translates to King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, and Emperor of India. The weathered bronze composition displays an authentic, naturally dark-toned surface patina that heavily defines the textures of the king's hair, mustache, and short beard. This specific specimen represents the standard 20mm diameter circulation strike minted at the Royal Mint in London.
Reverse: Seated Britannia facing right, holding trident and shield; FARTHING above, 1918 below.
Circa: 1918
