Material: Bronze (95% copper, 4% tin, 1% zinc)
Diameter: 25.5 mm
Mint / Mintmark: Royal Mint, London (no mintmark)
Obverse: This authentic British coin is struck from a standard bronze alloy composition consisting primarily of copper, tin, and zinc. The obverse side displays the bare, right-facing portrait profile of King Edward VII, which was originally designed and engraved by the prominent Royal Mint chief engraver George William de Saulles. Wrapping entirely around the portrait boundary is the formal abbreviated Latin legend reading "EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:". This monumental inscription translates to English as "Edward VII, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India." The edge is completely smooth and un-reeded, framing a rich brown natural patina showing extensive historical handling.
