Obverse: This vintage British silver coin represents the large half crown denomination, equivalent to two shillings and sixpence, featuring the iconic portrait of King George VI modeled by Thomas Humphrey Paget. The surrounding legend displays the abbreviated royal titles reading “GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX”, which translates from Latin to George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains. The design exhibits a beautifully textured outer rim composed of tiny, uniform dentiles that help shield the central design from surface scuffing. This heavy coin was a staple of daily commerce across the United Kingdom during the final year of the Second World War.
Reverse: Shield of the Royal Arms quartered with English lions, Scottish lion rampant, and Irish harp, flanked by crowned G and R; legend FID:DEF:IND:IMP:HALF CROWN 1945; design by George Kruger Gray (K·G).
