Obverse: This numismatic artifact showcases the obverse side of the United Kingdom two-shilling coin, commonly known as a florin, minted during the late interwar period. The central vignette features the classic, uncrowned left-profile portrait of King George V, highlighting his trimmed beard and regal features. Framing this imperial likeness is a bold Latin legend reading "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX". This royal title translates from Latin to mean "George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains". The entire composition is encircled by a highly dense, uniform beaded border running directly inside the raised outer protective rim of the planchet.
Reverse: This reverse perspective showcases the elegant heraldic composition used on the United Kingdom two-shilling piece during the latter half of King George V’s reign. The central motif features four shields arranged cruciform style, representing England twice, Scotland, and Ireland, linked in the center by a small saltire ring. Alternating between the shields are four ornate royal sceptres topped with crowns and delicate French fleur-de-lis finials. The outer border text reads "FID · DEF · IND · IMP ·" along the upper left rim, while the denomination and date "1929 · ONE FLORIN" flow smoothly along the right and lower edges. A neat, dense pattern of uniform beads frames the entire perimeter just inside the outer edge.
Circa: 1929
Condition: Very Fine; minor even wear across high points, light silver toning, excellent shield detail and legend clarity.
