Under Review

Material: Gilt brass
Size: 40 mm W × 45 mm H
Description: This solid metal openwork insignia features the distinctive Old English font initials "BAYS" nestled tightly within a symmetrical laurel wreath cluster. A St. Edward's Crown, illustrating detailed jewel accents and a crisp textured velvet cap arch, proudly surmounts the central monogram block. The entire badge is executed in a heavy gilding metal brass alloy that develops a deep natural patina over time.
Reverse: Plain with vertical brass slider, maker stamped MARPLES & BEASLEY BIRMINGHAM
Circa: 1953–1959 (Queen Elizabeth II era, pre-amalgamation)
Notes:

The Queen’s Bays were one of Britain’s oldest cavalry regiments, tracing lineage to 1685. This pattern was worn from 1953 until their 1959 amalgamation with the 1st King’s Dragoon Guards, to form The Queen’s Dragoon Guards.
