Royal Corps of Signals Bi-Metal Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Bi-metal
Size: 30mm w × 50mm h
Description: The outer structure consists of a golden-brass oval band crisply embossed with the regimental title "ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS", bordered along the bottom edge by tiny decorative laurel leaves. Surmounting the top of the oval ring is a finely chiseled, imperial King's Crown (Tudor pattern) representing the reigning monarch. Mounted securely as a separate, silvery white-metal overlay at the center is the Roman messenger god Mercury, famously referred to within the regiment as "Jimmy", captured in full stride with his right hand raised toward the crown while his left hand holds a traditional winged caduceus staff. The figure's left foot balances elegantly atop a detailed, matching white-metal globe base. The reverse retains its original unpolished brass patina and is fitted with a solid, unmarked vertical slider bracket designed to secure the emblem into a wool cap.
Circa: 1921-1946
