The Glasgow Highlanders Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: White metal.

Size: 60 mm × 72 mm.

Description: The front profile presents a diamond-cut Star of the Order of the Thistle surmounted by a prominent imperial Queen's Crown. The center features a highly stylized figure of St. Andrew holding his saltire cross inside an oval band reading the national motto "NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT" (No one provokes me with impunity) surrounded by an elaborate thistle wreath framework. The flanking upper scrolling banner frames the text "THE GLASGOW HIGHLANDERS" while the lower sweeping scroll explicitly highlights the division lineage "LIGHT HIGHLAND INFANTRY" resting above a crouching royal sphinx emblem. The die-struck reverse is completely unmarked and features two sturdy original loop fasteners designed to accept a wire split pin for secure attachment to a woolen glengarry or tam o' shanter cap.

Circa: Post-1953.

Notes:

This particular cap badge is highly prized by Scottish militaria specialists because it represents the absolute final, shortest-lived era of the regiment's independent identity before they were merged into the Royal Highland Fusiliers in 1959.
