Air Training Corps Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Chromed metal

Size: 40 mm

Description: This artifact is an official Cadet other ranks headdress insignia badge issued by the Air Training Corps (ATC) of the United Kingdom. The insignia is die-struck in a durable white metal or brass alloy base heavily finished with a highly reflective, polished chromium plating layer. The circular layout features a voided open center dominated by a meticulously detailed, embossed falcon soaring toward the right with its wings fully extended, elegantly framed along the textured, stippled background ring by the bold block inscription "AIR TRAINING CORPS." The unpolished reverse plate remains unmarked, utilizing a standard dual loop lug configuration designed to take a brass split pin for secure attachment onto a traditional wool uniform beret or forage cap.

Circa: Mid 20th Century

Notes:

Established by Royal Warrant on February 5, 1941, during the height of the Battle of Britain, the Air Training Corps was formed explicitly to prepare young men for subsequent enlistment into the Royal Air Force (RAF) or Fleet Air Arm.
