Royal Observer Corps Uniform Buttons

Under Review

Material: Brass

Description: The set consists of three large 23mm and two small 16mm brass uniform buttons specifically designed for the Royal Observer Corps (ROC). The obverse face displays a detailed relief scene portraying an Elizabethan coastwatcher standing on a rugged shoreline. The figure raises a flaming beacon torch with one arm while shielding his eyes with the other, scanning the horizon for distant coastal threats. The backdrop features a rolling sea complete with stylized waves and a distant sailing ship navigating the coastal waters. The reverse of each button features a sturdy wire shank and bears the crisp maker's stamp of the legendary uniform outfitter, Firmin London.

Reverse: The image reveals the back of the Royal Observer Corps uniform button, providing an excellent look at its historic two-piece design. The front shell is wrapped over a solid brass reverse plate, forming a clean white-metal or nickel-plated rim around the outer edge. A sturdy brass wire attachment loop is securely brazed into the center of the recessed core. Stamped clearly in an arc across the top is the name "FIRMIN," balanced along the bottom by the location "LONDON," with two crisp five-pointed stars acting as visual separators on the left and right sides.

Circa: 1941-1953
