Material: Staybrite front, with brass backplate.
Diameter: 15 mm
Description: This 15mm military tunic button features a multi-piece hybrid construction consisting of a gold-anodized "Staybrite" aluminum front shell rolled cleanly over a solid brass reverse plate. The face displays a meticulously struck design of the Egyptian Sphinx resting on a horizontal plinth marked "EGYPT", enclosed within a circular border reading "ROYAL LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT" and crowned with the post-1953 St. Edward's Crown. The backing shows a contrasting rich, unpolished golden-brown brass surface stamped with a circular "BUTTONS LTD BHM" maker's mark and a central brass wire loop attachment shank. Because the anodized face remains impervious to oxidation, the front maintains its brilliant, shiny finish while the reverse shows natural mid-century tarnish and handling age.
Circa: 1953-1960
