Material: Brass
Size: 17mm
Description: The convex military button displays an intricately detailed Rose of England nested directly inside a traditional circular Garter band. This iconic band features the embossed, historic Old French motto "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", which translates directly to "shame on him who thinks evil of it". Surmounting the circular frame is a sharply defined Imperial King's Crown, while the background metal has a clean, fine stippled texture to make the central motifs stand out beautifully.
Reverse: 2 piece with inset loop.
Circa: 1902-1952
Notes:
This design was famously worn by the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), one of the oldest line infantry regiments in the British Army.
The motto ring on this button represents the Order of the Garter, the most senior order of knighthood in the British honors system. The Royal Fusiliers proudly integrated this royal emblem alongside their signature Hampshire/Lancastrian rose layout across their full suite of uniform appointments, ranging from large officer tunic buttons down to pocket fastings.
