Material: Gilt brass
Size: 25 mm
Description: This military artifact is an original, pre-1901 uniform greatcoat button issued to personnel serving within the Royal Regiment of Artillery of the British Army. The large circular-convex button is die-stamped from high-grade gilding brass stock. The highly detailed face features a prominent field gun cannon facing left, complete with a meticulously struck multi-spoke wheel structure. Crowning the central field cannon is an authentic, dipped-arch Queen Victoria Crown (QVC) which designates its 19th-century imperial production run. The flat reverse side carries the crisp industrial maker's mark "SMITH & WRIGHT LIMITED • BIRMINGHAM" stamped cleanly in an outer ring around a rigid, integrated copper wire eyelet shank designed for heavy safety-pin or split-ring fastening to a wool tunic.
