Officers Training Corps Button

Under Review

Material: Gilt brass

Diameter: 20 mm
Description:  This circular, domed brass uniform button features an embossed design celebrating the Officers Training Corps (OTC). At the center rests a stylized monogram of the letters "OTC", which is directly surmounted by a detailed Tudor Crown, often referred to by collectors as the King's Crown. Encircling the central insignia along the outer border is the text "OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS" in raised, uppercase block lettering. The entire composition has developed a rich, golden-brown antique patina from age and handled wear.
Reverse: The reverse of this circular brass button features a solid, raised brass wire shank or loop positioned precisely at the center for sewing onto a garment. Stamped into the metal surface is a clear, uppercase manufacturer backmark reading "SUPERB QUALITY" wrapped in a circular layout. The text is bordered by distinct inner and outer circular concentric frame lines pressed into the brass backing. The entire metal reverse displays a warm, aged golden coloration with slight surface micro-scratches and minor debris consistent with a genuine, field-worn military artifact.
Circa: 1908-1952
Notes:
The Officers Training Corps was officially established in 1908 under the Haldane Reforms to train university and public school students for leadership positions in the British Army prior to World War I.
