Under Review

Material: Chromed brass

Diameter: 25mm

Description: This vintage 25mm institutional tunic fastener was officially struck for the British National Fire Service (NFS) during the Second World War. The face features the stylized, prominent initials "NFS" in raised block lettering with fine textured interiors, set beautifully against a clean, polished background. Crafted with a sturdy, high-dome profile, the circular metallic structure is finished with a brilliant chrome plating designed to resist corrosion during strenuous field operations. The reverse side incorporates a fixed metal wire shank for heavy-duty stitching and bears the specific maker stamp of the prestigious military outfitters, "J.R. Gaunt & Son Ltd London Eng".

Circa: 1941-1948

Notes:

The NFS was established by the British government in August 1941 to unify over 1,600 isolated local civil brigades and the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) into a single, cohesive unit capable of combatting heavy Blitz bombing raids.
