Royal West Kent Regiment Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: White metal
Size: 45 mm W × 42 mm H
Description: This authentic piece of British military history represents the headdress insignia worn by the other ranks of the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment. The die-stamped design features the iconic White Horse of Kent in a rearing position, representing the localized heritage of the regional unit. The stallion stands directly above an upper flowing banner inscribed with the motto "INVICTA" in stylized Old English lettering, which translates from Latin to mean "Unconquered". Positioned directly beneath this primary motto is a secondary tri-part foundational scroll boldly embossed with the unit name "ROYAL WEST KENT". The reverse of the badge features a vertical brass slider stamped J.R. GAUNT B’HAM.
Circa: 1970s
Notes:

The prominent maker mark stamped onto the reverse slider attributes this specific manufacturing run to the famous workshop of J.R. Gaunt in Birmingham. Interestingly, the "B'Ham" designation on the slider helps collectors pin down the manufacturing timeline precisely to the post-1973 era when the Birmingham Mint acquired Gaunt and consolidated production facilities away from London.
