Material: Cloth. Bullion embroidery
Size: 45mm w x 50mm h
Description: This striking uniform piece showcases a prominent vertical fouled anchor wrapped diagonally by a thick, twisted rope cable. Every element is built using layered gold bullion wire techniques, including coiled purl wire outlines and ribbed interior segments that catch the light to create depth and dimension. The entire embroidered structure is heavily padded from beneath to create a distinct three-dimensional profile that rises off the fabric surface. Its base material is a coarse, heavy-weight melton wool or serge cloth with uneven raw edges where it was neatly unpicked from a dress uniform sleeve.
Circa: 1939-1950s
