Material: Staybrite (Anodized Aluminum)
Size: 20mm w × 50mm h
Description: This twentieth-century military cap badge belongs to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) of the British Army. The ornate insignia features the iconic 1947-pattern design, showcasing a white-metal or silver-plated rearing horse (salient) collared with a chain, its hind hooves resting upon a detailed globe that highlights the continents of Europe and Africa. The horse is superimposed over a golden-anodized, stylized lightning bolt that terminates at a diagonal angle behind a sweeping banner inscribed with the corps acronym "R.E.M.E.". Surmounting the entire vertical composition is the St. Edward's Crown (Queen's Crown), reflecting an issue period aligned with the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Measuring exactly 20mm wide by 50mm high, the reverse side of this lightweight aluminum alloy ("Staybrite") badge is fitted with a solid brass attachment slider intended to slide into standard military berets or service caps.
Reverse: Plain gilt reverse with vertical slider fitting and stamped maker's mark.
Circa: Later reproduction of the post-1953 Queen Elizabeth II pattern
