Material: Embroidered cloth
Size: 50mm w x 65mm h
Description: This rectangular woven cloth insignia serves as an official regional identification badge worn by scouts and leaders. The design highlights a large, blooming Red Rose of Lancaster executed in dense red embroidery thread, resting on a bright yellow stem with three beautifully shaded green leaves. The text "SOUTH WEST" is woven horizontally along the top right in block lettering, balanced by the word "LANCASHIRE" running along the bottom left. Rendered entirely on a smooth black silk-weave backing material, this patch features raw, folded edges and red tension stitching along the very top and bottom margins, structurally engineered to be sewn directly onto the right sleeve of a standard scout uniform shirt or green jersey.
Circa: Mid to Late 20th Century
Notes:
Following the major 1974 structural reorganization of British Scout Counties, this specific black woven format with yellow lettering was introduced in 1974 and remained the standard issue design for the county until a localized amalgamation in the mid-1990s.
